Greg Beasley
President
As a 28-year veteran of HCA Healthcare, Greg Beasley serves as President of Surgery Ventures, which encompasses more than 7,000 colleagues and 3,400 physician partners.
Surgery Ventures operates, and jointly owns with physicians, approximately 150 surgery centers in 16 states.
Beasley began his career with HCA Healthcare as an Operations Director in 1995 and was later named Vice President of Operations for Texas and Louisiana.
He served as Senior Vice President of Operations for the Western Region of the HCA Healthcare Ambulatory Surgery Division for four years and as Chief Operating Officer of the HCA Healthcare Ambulatory Surgery Division for two years before being promoted to President of the HCA Healthcare Ambulatory Surgery Division in 2004.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting degree from Texas Tech University.
Greg Swinney
Chief Financial Officer
Greg Swinney joined HCA Healthcare in September 2005 as a Regional Chief Financial Officer. In his leadership role, he was responsible for surgery centers in the Continental, Mountain, Far West, MidAmerica, Gulf Coast and Central and West Texas Divisions of HCA Healthcare.
He was promoted to Division Chief Financial Officer in April 2016. Swinney’s healthcare career spans more than 28 years. With a background in physician practice management, he is a Certified Public Accountant who has served in various roles within the healthcare industry since 1995. He began his career as an auditor with Ernst & Young.
Swinney received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting degree from Texas Christian University.
Michael Hicks, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Michael Hicks, MD, is Chief Medical Officer of Surgery Ventures where he is the clinical leader responsible for patient safety, quality, and clinical risk management. In addition, he remains active clinically as an anesthesiologist and clinical informaticist.
Previously, Dr. Hicks held a number of executive leadership positions within private and publicly-traded companies. Most recently, he served as the Executive Vice President of Health System Partnerships and Clinical Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, where his teams led the interdisciplinary faculty clinical practice, clinical training relationships of the university's six schools and colleges and its publicly-funded patient safety institute.
Dr. Hicks earned a bachelor’s degree and his medical degree from West Virginia University, a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Dallas, and a Master’s of Science in Health Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. He is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Preventive Medicine in clinical informatics and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
Sharon Ikeler, DNP, RN, NEA-BC
Chief Nurse Executive
Sharon Ikeler, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, was named Chief Nurse Executive of Surgery Ventures in November 2020. She oversees nursing strategy, operations, talent management, and patient experience - including driving a culture of caring throughout Surgery Ventures.
Dr. Ikeler has 26 years of nursing experience - 14 of those within HCA Healthcare. Previously, she served as Chief Nursing Officer of HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, a 425-bed hospital, for two years where she oversaw clinical services for various inpatient units, emergency services, education, respiratory therapy, women’s services, and two urgent care centers.
She brings 17 years of experience in Chief Nursing Officer roles including Tomball Regional Medical Center from 2014 – 2018, Plaza Medical Center from 2011 – 2014, and Las Colinas Medical Center from 2006 – 2011.
Dr. Ikeler holds a Bachelor in Nursing and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Texas Christian University and a Master of Science in Nursing Administrator from the University of Texas at Arlington.
David Whalen
Senior Vice President, Business Development
David Whalen has served as Senior Vice President of Business Development of Surgery Ventures since 2010. In this role, Whalen is responsible for the growth of HCA Healthcare's surgery centers. He oversees acquisitions of existing, physician-owned centers and the development of new surgery centers.
Whalen has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining HCA Healthcare, Whalen was Vice President of Business Development at Surgical Care Affiliates and served as Chief Business Development Officer at Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, Texas. Additionally, Dave was a healthcare consultant at Deloitte.
He holds a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, along with a master’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Temple University.
Shaun Cartwright
Senior Vice President, Operations – Western Region
Shaun Cartwright was named Senior Vice President of Operations of the Western Region of Surgery Ventures in January 2020.
Previously, he served as Vice President of Operations for the HCA Healthcare Continental Division from 2016 – 2020 where he led strategy and operations for 19 surgery centers, 850 colleagues and 300 physician partners.
Cartwright began his career with HCA Healthcare in 2006. He held several influential leadership positions throughout 14 years within the Continental Division including Assistant Vice President of Operations, Central Business Office Director, and Central Business Office Manager.
During his time in the Continental Division, Cartwright was instrumental in helping grow its number of surgery centers from six to 19. Additionally, he played a significant role in launching the first surgical center total joint replacement program within HCA Healthcare.
Cartwright holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Oregon State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Will Earnest
Senior Vice President, Operations – East Region
Will Earnest is Senior Vice President of Operations of the East Region of Surgery Ventures, encompassing more than 40 surgery centers in Florida, Coastal Georgia, and South Carolina.
In addition, Earnest oversees HCA Healthcare’s financial and operational hub in Orlando and three Central Business Offices based in Florida.
With more than 26 years of experience at HCA Healthcare, Earnest has served in roles in hospital management, outpatient development, and outpatient oncology operations.
Earnest resides in St. Augustine, Florida with his wife and daughter.
Tim Evans
Senior Vice President, Operations – Central Region
Tim Evans has served as Senior Vice President of Operations of the Central Region of Surgery Ventures since 2016. In this role, Evans oversees the operations and development for more than 30 surgery centers in the Capital, Tristar, and Central and West Texas Divisions of HCA Healthcare.
He has more than 23 years of healthcare experience, specifically related to free-standing outpatient surgery centers.
Prior to his current role, Evans served as Vice President of Operations for nine years where he oversaw operations and financial responsibilities for surgery centers in Tennessee, Georgia, and Louisiana.
Evans holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master of Business Administration from Samford University.
Dave Roy
Senior Vice President, Operations – Northwest Region
Dave Roy was named Senior Vice President of Operations of the Northwest Region of Surgery Ventures in February 2016.
He oversees strategic, operational, and development responsibilities for 42 surgery centers located in the Continental, Mountain, and Mid-America Divisions of HCA Healthcare.
Roy began his career with HCA Healthcare in 1993 as an Administrator of an ophthalmology practice, and at a surgery center, and then served in various Vice President of Operations roles - in the East Florida and Central Atlantic Divisions for 10 years, the Continental Division for nine years and in ophthalmic services for seven years.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Florida, has been married to his wife, Marjorie, for 37 years and has two sons and two grandchildren.
Missy Egan
Managing Counsel
Missy Egan has served as counsel to Surgery Ventures since March 2020, overseeing and advising on legal and regulatory matters for the group.
Before joining HCA Healthcare, Egan served as senior counsel at United Surgical Partners International and prior to that was in private practice with Baker Donelson and Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath where she practiced healthcare and transactional law.
Egan holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
Shanna Warren
Vice President of Human Resources
Shanna Warren is Vice President of Human Resources of Surgery Ventures where she oversees human resource functions including human talent and maintaining strong employee relations for approximately 7,000 colleagues.
With 28 years of experience in human resources, and 23 years with HCA Healthcare, Warren previously served as Vice President of Human Resources, Employee Health and Volunteer Services at Medical City Dallas.
She was Vice President of Human Resources for Integrated Lines of Business for Medical City Healthcare where she led human resources initiatives for more than 3,000 business colleagues across various HCA Healthcare business lines.
Additionally, Warren was Vice President of HR, Employee Health and Co-Ethics Officer at Medical City Plano.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from LeTourneau University and a Masters in Human Resources Management from Dallas Baptist University. Warren holds advanced certifications as a Senior Professional Human Resources and Senior Certified Professional by the Society for Human Resources Management.
Brittany Dodd
Vice President of Physician and Provider Relations
Brittany Dodd is the Vice President of Physician and Provider Relations of Surgery Ventures. In this role, she leads the team’s success through operational alignment, cross-functional collaboration, and growth objectives.
Dodd has a diverse 20-year background in healthcare sales and leadership roles. Her ability to build and maintain robust relationships across the United States has been instrumental to her career success. Dodd has a passion for improving physician and patient experiences, which drives her empowerment of the physician and provider relations team.
She holds a business degree from Abilene Christian University and an MBA from Texas Woman’s University. She lives in Keller, Texas with her husband of 19 years, two sons, and their dog.
Suzanne Greever
Vice President of Development and Integration
With more than 20 years of senior-level healthcare experience, Greever has served as CEO of multiple hospitals and VP of Operations at a major surgical services corporation. She is an experienced consultant in leadership and operational improvement. She has extensive experience in strategic planning, physician and employee relations, business development, compliance, and construction management.
Since 2021, Greever has been the Vice President of Development and Integration of Surgery Ventures. She leads the integration team, managing newly acquired and developed surgery centers' operationalization and design and construction management.
She holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas, a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University, and is a CPA and certified leadership coach. In 2023, she joined the Board of Texas A&M University’s Association of Former Students Aggie Women’s Network.
Shelly Savage
Vice President of Development Analysis
Shelly Savage serves as Vice President of Development Analysis of Surgery Ventures. In this role, she is focused on the development, evaluation, and communication of financial reports and business cases for Surgery Ventures acquisition and de novo projects.
With more than 20 years of experience, she previously held several corporate financial leadership roles at United Surgical Partners International (USPI), including International Accounting Manager, Director of M&A Analytics & Integration, and Vice President of M&A Analytics and Integration.
Savage is a Certified Public Accountant who earned a Master of Professional Accounting and Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Savage and her husband, Scott, enjoy spending time with their six children.
Pam Tate
Assistant Vice President of Communications
Pam Tate is Assistant Vice President of Communications of Surgery Ventures. She leads public relations and internal communications strategies and serves as spokesperson for the group.
A 10-year veteran of HCA Healthcare, Tate spent her first seven years at Medical City Dallas where she held public and community relations leadership positions and gained international media coverage for the hospital.
Her strategic communications career spans 19 years, including a diverse background in corporate, consumer, and agency roles.
Tate earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations from the University of North Texas.
